FACT CHECK

To verify the claim above, Tempo’s CekFakta Team traced related news from a number of credible media. As a result, the explanation from the Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the Police was found that the claim ‘to take care of a driver’s license and SKCK must show a Covid-19 vaccine certificate’ is wrong.

The Head of the Sub-Directorate for the SIM Korlantas Polri Kombes Djati Utomo confirmed the information was a hoax. This was conveyed by Djati through a press statement on the official website of the Korlantas Polri. “Hoaxes don’t believe it,” said Djati on June 20, 2021.

Djati also regretted the rise of hoaxes currently circulating. According to him, this regulation is impossible to make considering that there are still many people who have not been injected with the Covid-19 vaccine. “Not all Indonesians have the vaccine,” said Djati.

Reporting from Kompas.com, the Head of Sub-Directorate for Registration and Identification of Sie SIM, Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Anrianto, also said the information was not true. “Regarding information (SIM and SKCK applicants must show a Covid-19 vaccination certificate), it’s a hoax,” said Anrianto on April 23, 2021.

According to him, the requirements for documents for making a driving license, especially at the Daan Mogot Driving License Administration Unit (Satpas SIM), West Jakarta, are still the same. Anrianto said the Daan Mogot SIM Satpas had just made a rule to limit the number of registrants amid the increase in Covid-19 cases. “So that the implementation of health protocols can be maximized,” said Anrianto.

While the requirements for making a new SIM are different for each group. SIM A applicants must be 17 years old and over, while SIM C and SIM D applicants must be 16 years old and over. As for SIM BI and SIM BII, the applicant must be aged 20 years and over, while the general SIM is aged 21 years and over. Other requirements, applicants bring ID cards, both original and photocopies, before participating in filling out the SIM-making form.

Reporting from Jawapos.com, the East Kotawaringin Police, Central Kalimantan, and the Indragiri Hilir Police, Riau, have made a policy that SIM applicants must have been vaccinated against Covid-19. However, recently the policy was revoked because the Covid-19 vaccination had not yet targeted all Indonesians.

CONCLUSION

Based on Tempo’s fact check, the claim that as of July 1, 2021, SIM and SKCK applicants must present a Covid-19 vaccination certificate, is false. Korlantas Polri has confirmed that the claim is a hoax. The East Kotawaringin Police and the Indragiri Hilir Police have indeed made a policy that SIM applicants must have been vaccinated against Covid-19. However, recently, the policy was revoked on the grounds that not all people have received the Covid-19 vaccine.
