Prince Harry was excited to reconnect with his old friends over a ‘boys’ lunch earlier this year – but mystery surrounds the secret meeting he will have with his father to rebuild their strained relationship.
A source close to the Prince of Wales said Charles had planned a one-on-one dinner with Harry during his son’s trip back to England earlier this month, when Harry unveiled a statue of his late mother Diana.
I was told Charles – who was reportedly in Scotland during the ceremony at Kensington Palace – intends to travel back to London to discuss matters with Harry, following the aftermath of the explosive interview the Duke and wife Meghan gave Oprah Winfrey.

A nervous Charles was said to be ‘scared’ of dinner – perhaps if he made some misinterpretation and repeated faux pas to the Duchess of Sussex at his home in California.
But it’s still unclear whether the dinner actually went according to plan, and an aide to Charles wouldn’t have been interested in the matter last night.
However, the suggestion that the pair are willing to make plans to meet suggests at least a slight thaw in relations between Harry and the rest of the Royal Family.
Cressie’s little puppy is out
Cressida Bonas was always smart enough not to let the cat out of the bag when she started dating Prince Harry. Now he doesn’t let the dog out of the papoose!
I saw actress Cressie in Notting Hill last week with her beloved dachshund puppy, Budgie Bear, sticking his nose out of her handbag.
I’ve noted how Cressie, 32, who is now married to Harry Wentworth-Stanley, has fallen in love with the puppy.
When he got it last month he said: ‘He is a chocolate ball of love and comfort, has the kindest eyes, is brave as a lion, and we love him too much.’

I heard trouble beneath the surface as Buckingham Palace reopened its gardens.
The Queen is always encouraging birds and wildlife, but nature’s delicate balance is upset… and the heron devours all the fish in the pond, leaving none for visitors to admire.
‘One day we hope to reintroduce fish but for now the stork reigns supreme,’ my source said.
Something tells me that if Prince Philip were still alive he would bring a rifle to them!
The £100 million divorce hasn’t stopped advertising tycoon Sir Martin Sorrell from finding love again.
Literary agent Caroline Michel has opened up about her relationship with Sir Martin, 76, who is said to be so in love he could even make her his third wife.
The couple were described as ‘close friends’ last year, and in April this year they were spotted eating together.
Now Caroline, 62, whose clients include Bear Grylls, tells me they are an item, adding: ‘It’s still very early days. There is a long way to go in doing these things.’

As the future Duchess of Roxburghe, Annie Green will hand over the keys to the 200-room Castle Floor.
But don’t think about former chatelaine Virginia Wynn-Williams, who I hear now finds herself living in a modest rented cottage in Wiltshire – having vacated her stately home in Scotland following her husband’s death.
Virginia was married to the 10th Duke, Guy Innes-Ker, until his death in 2019, but now her stepson Charlie Bowmont is getting married and taking over the castle.
