TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – The government has begun to allow the opening of shopping centers or malls in the PPKM Level 4 area, provided that visitors are required to have a vaccine certificate.
Chairman of the Indonesian Shopping Center Tenants and Retailers Association (Hippindo) Budihardjo Iduansjah said the opening of malls during the implementation of PPKM Level 4 in several areas was the first step before returning to normal.

“We support this opening trial. Those under 12 years old and over 70 are not allowed to enter, we see that there is a new normal, mandatory vaccination in all public facilities and we will try it in shops,” Budihardjo said when contacted, Tuesday (10/8/2021).

According to him, the requirement to have a vaccine certificate for mall visitors will familiarize themselves in the future and this can accelerate the vaccination program that is being intensified by the government.
“It’s like bomb detection, it wasn’t there before, now it’s everywhere. There will be something like that later, checking the vaccine when the vaccine is ready to enter, we must support the efforts of this national program, “he said. .
Chairman of the Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI) Alphonzus Widjaja welcomed the easing of shopping centers, especially those in four cities, namely Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang and Surabaya, although they were only allowed to operate at 25 percent capacity, and visitors. required to have the vaccine.
“It is hoped that the mandatory vaccination requirements for everyone in shopping centers can encourage the acceleration of vaccination, which in turn can accelerate the achievement of herd immunity,” said Alphonzus.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment of Indonesia said PPKM Level 4, Level 3, and Level 2 in Java-Bali were extended until August 16.
According to him, in the next week, the government will conduct trials of opening shopping centers or malls in a number of cities, such as in Bandung, Semarang, DKI Jakarta, Surabaya.
The trial was carried out with the implementation of strict health protocols and the capacity of the mall was only 25 percent.
Meanwhile, the health protocol applied is that mall visitors are required to have a vaccine certificate.
In addition, children under the age of 12 and seniors over the age of 70 are prohibited from entering the mall.
