Jakarta, IDN Times – Epidemiologist from Griffith University Australia, Dicky Budiman, assessed that the application of vaccine certificates as a condition for easing community activities could not be applied in all regions. According to him, not all regions have access to vaccines.

1. Vaccines do not guarantee transmission of COVID-19
Dicky emphasized that vaccines do not guarantee to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, so the government must be ready to evaluate the policy periodically. Goals are good, but the strategy that needs to be improved is 3T (testing, tracing, treatment) to prevent the spread of the corona virus.
“In a situation like this, don’t make rules that burden the government, vital communities, the economy. So the implementation is gradual, the context of each region must be seen,” he said.

However, the government has a new requirement that requires people entering malls or shopping centers to present a certificate of COVID-19 vaccination.

3. Trial in several cities before permanent
This policy is planned to be piloted in several cities, before being implemented permanently nationally.
“The government will conduct a trial of gradual opening of malls, shopping centers at level 4 with the implementation of health protocols. This trial will be conducted in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Semarang, with a capacity of 25 percent over the next week. with strict health protocols,” said Luhut.
