Natalie Barbu, 25, isn’t just a lifestyle vlogger. He is a content planner, strategist and producer with a 360-degree view of the industry. With her YouTube channel of 297,000 subscribers, her “Real Roll” podcast and her social media consulting business, WeBloom Social, she is unstoppable.
“The internet is the highlight, and you usually only see people’s good days,” he told The Post. “While you want to share it and celebrate all of your accomplishments, it’s also important to show people that you’re not who you are. People compare themselves online—I’m guilty of that too—so it’s really important to be authentic and to show that it’s not real life all the time.
“There are ups and there are downs.”
Barbu graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and transferred the skills and connections she formed during her college days to develop her new app, Rella, which is available for download this fall. It is an extension of its social media agency, WeBloom Social.
“I wanted a way to work on the other side of the influencer industry — to help brands connect with influencers and create campaigns that would reach their audience and help their company,” he added. “I’ve always worked as an influencer, so I wanted to help brands facilitate influencer relationships and brand deals. Many small businesses don’t have access to these influencers to work with, but WeBloom allows them to capitalize on them.”
With his recent move to Miami, the startup is modernizing its 21st-century approach to content creation — expanding on different platforms and maintaining the associated authenticity it’s known for. His “Real Reel” podcast, both in name and in meaning, couldn’t be a more perfect example of his mission to share true stories.
“While I love listening to entrepreneurship-focused podcasts with people who own multi-million dollar companies, people sometimes overlook their predicament and, while it’s inspiring, they just don’t feel right,” he says. “I wanted to interview my friend who is a doula, my cousin in grad school and a photographer I know — just because you don’t have many followers or aren’t super rich doesn’t mean you don’t have stories to tell. Share it.”
That’s not to say Barbu doesn’t feature established guests on his show either. Two of his favorite episodes are with Summer Fridays Founder Marianna Hewitt and Headquarters Founder Waikit Lau. And, to this day, he still cherishes his podcast with his best friend who is a teacher.
“When interviewing business-focused people, I tend to ask people about their past—their childhood, their first job, how they entered the industry—because I think that’s more relevant than ‘Hey, I’m the CEO of a company. this,’ he explained.
Not only does Barbu provide value through his intentional glimpses of his days, but he always strives to portray all of his passions into a single stream of videos.
“I’m a very multifaceted person in the sense that I don’t want to bother myself with just posting about productivity, business and entrepreneurship,” he said. “I want my channel to have a holistic view of who I am, so I’ll be posting how I started the business, as well as my beauty routine and fashion looks.”
