Long ago, before she met her prince, Meghan Markle was an actor working to make a name for herself in Hollywood when she married a producer and talent agent named Trevor Engelson. However, since Meghan is shooting a legal legal drama drama Settings in Toronto and Engleson worked in California, the two didn’t spend much time together. Then, what the future duchess did when things went south reportedly made Engleson feel like “a piece of something stuck to the bottom of Meghan’s shoe.”
When Meghan and Engleson tied the knot
Meghan and the film’s producers met in 2004 and dated for seven years before getting married. They tied the knot at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios on September 10, 2011. Meghan wore a white strapless dress with a silver sash for the actual ceremony but their wedding was a lavish event for four years. the day they spent celebrating on the island with their family and friends.
Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, was reportedly present to see her daughter saying, “I do.” However, it is unknown if his father, Thomas Markle, was also there.
After nearly two years of marriage and as Meghan’s career took off, she filed for divorce from Engleson in August 2013 citing “irreconcilable differences.”
A friend said Engelson ‘felt like something was stuck in the bottom of Meghan’s shoe’ when he blinded it
According to the biography of Andrew Morton Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, Meghan actually sent her diamond engagement and wedding ring back to Engelson in the mail, and she was so shocked by the move that she “could barely contain her temper.” A friend told the writer that Engelson went from doting on Meghan to “feeling like she was part of something stuck to the bottom of her shoe.”
Ninaki Priddy, who was Meghan’s former best friend and was a bridesmaid at their wedding, decided she no longer wanted to “associate herself” with Settings star after hearing what he had done.
“The way he handled it, Trevor must have pulled the rug out from under him,” said Priddy (per Express). “He’s injured.”
Another friend said that the now-duchess felt ‘powered’ after she separated from Engelson
Another one of Meghan’s friends, fellow actor Abby Wathan, who is working with the now-Duchess of Sussex on the film Random Meeting, said Meghan had just realized she and Engelson weren’t right for each other and had become “empowered.”
“We’re both going through a divorce so we’re tied for it,” Wathan told the ITVTV documentary Prince Harry and Meghan: Totally Crazy. “I was crushed but he was empowered. He took back his strength. It wasn’t the right relationship for him, so he moved on.”
Engelson then married dietitian Tracey Kurland in 2019 and Meghan of course married Prince Harry in 2018.
