Despite their status as family, these Marvel superheroes actually have to face their parents who are criminals.
Every human being must have a parent figure who gave birth to him, including the Marvel superheroes. They are sometimes said to have a pretty good relationship. In fact, sometimes parents and children become a popular superhero couple in the Marvel universe fighting crime together.
However, there are some Marvel superheroes who actually have bad parents. This is of course very contrary to their profession. In fact, as a result of this, Marvel superheroes are sometimes forced to fight their parents.
Curious who are the Marvel superheroes whose parents are villains? Just take a look at the KINCIR discussion below!
1. Star-Lord (Son of the Living Planet Ego or J’Son)
For those of you who have seen the film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) must know that Star-Lord is the son of Ego the Living Planet who is a supervillain. This is because Ego traveled the universe to produce Celestial children, including to Earth, where he met his mother Peter Quill. Star-Lord became the only child of Ego with Celestial abilities.
In the end In the film, we are also presented with a moment of battle between Star-Lord and his father who wants to destroy a number of planets. Interestingly, the father figure of Star-Lord between the MCU and comic versions is quite different. The reason is, in the comic version, Star-Lord is the son of J’Son who is the leader of an alien race called Spartax Empire.
Even so, J’Son is also portrayed as a villain who wants to try to control Peter Quill to obey his orders. In fact, J’Son had the heart to fight a number of Guardians just to make his son obey his orders.
2. Gamora and Nebula (adopted son of Thanos)
As we know, Gamora and Nebula are adopted children of the main villain in Infinity Saga arc in the MCU, namely Thanos. The two are told that they were adopted as children by Thanos when villains invaded their planet and wiped out its population. Gamora and Nebula are then trained as soldiers to help Thanos achieve his ultimate goal.
At first, Gamora and Nebula were said to be very obedient to Thanos and help the villains collect the Infinity Stones. However, after realizing how cruel Thanos was, the two decided to betray their adoptive father. The two of them then join the superhero group Guardians of the Galaxy to defeat Thanos.
3. Shang-Chi (Children of Mandarin or Fu Manchu)
When he first appeared in Marvel comics, Shang-Chi was immediately introduced as the son of a crime lord named Fu Manchu. Shang-Chi was raised by Fu Manchu to be a great fighter to replace him. However, Shang-Chi chose a different path with Fu Manchu and instead made his father his mortal enemy.
In the MCU version, Shang-Chi is also told as the son of Wenwu or better known as Mandarin who is the leader of the Ten Rings terrorist organization. Just like the comics, Shang-Chi has also been trained to be a fighter since childhood, but prefers to run away. When he grew up, he also faced his father to destroy the Ten Rings organization.
Seeing this background, of course the story of Shang-Chi as a child of Fu Manchu or Mandarin does not look too different. The reason is, Marvel may only replace Shang-Chi’s father figure in the film version with a Mandarin figure, not Fu Manchu like in the comics. You see, the figure of Fu Manchu in his comics had drawn controversy because of the issue of racism among his fans.
4. The Red Witch and Quicksilver (Magneto’s son)
In some versions of the comic, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are told as Magneto’s children. This is because the twins were born to Magda and Erik Lehnsherr aka Magneto. However, Magda who was pregnant at the time decided to flee to Mount Wundagore for fear that her child would be taken by Magneto, who at that time was a criminal.
Even so, when they grow up, the two meet again with Magneto and become part of a group of evil mutants called the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. However, there are times when the two have to face their father. One of them is like in M. bow . house where Quicksilver must protect the Scarlet Witch that Magneto wants to kill.
5. Runaways member (son of Pride member)
The parent-child relationship that this last Marvel superhero has is quite unique. You see, The Runaways is a superhero group whose members consist of a number of teenagers who are friends with each other because their parents have been friends for a long time. Well, it turns out that their parents are part of a criminal group called The Pride.
The Pride is also known as a criminal organization that contains criminals from various backgrounds in the Marvel universe, such as aliens, mutants, time travelers, and wizards. The children of The Pride members also decided to leave their parents after learning about the evil organization.
They then work together to form a group called Runaways which becomes the main enemy of their parent group. The story of the clash of a superhero teen group with a villain parent group has also been turned into a series live action title escape.
Well, that’s a number of Marvel superheroes whose parents are villains. Out of these superheroes, who is your favourite? share your opinion below and keep following KINCIR for interesting articles about other films, okay!
