22 Amazing And Horrible Wax Statues

It makes me want to say “OMG”…in both a good and a bad way.

I recently shared some wax figures that I believe are the greatest triumphs and failures in wax sculpture history. Since you guys like them so much, and I also like judging wax figures in my spare time, I decided to share some of the more historically great (and not so great) wax figures.

1.

Here’s a photo of Beyonce looking fierce at Coachella:

Kevin Winter / Getty Images for Coachella

And here’s the exact wax figure:

Kirsty O’connor – Pa Images / PA Images via Getty Images

Okay, madam, they’re finally in formation! Beyoncé’s wax figure is usually sorely missed, but this Coachella-inspired replica is sure to replace the rest.

2.

Here’s a photo of Prince William on his wedding day:

Chris Jackson / Getty Images

And here it is—not even close—his wax figure:

Barcroft Media / Barcroft Media via Getty Images

Seeing her wax figure made me really angry at how bad it looked. Can I tell who it is? Sure… a bit. But it gives more Clean the vibe of royalty, you know?

3.

Here’s a photo of Wendy Williams wearing a gorgeous red dress:

Andrew Toth / Getty Images

And here he is and his wax figure:

Cindy Ord / Getty Images for Madame Tussauds New York

Wendy Williams’ wax figure is so spot on, she could have her own talk show! From hair to eyelashes, everything is amazing!

4.

Here’s a photo of Robert Pattinson at the premiere The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 in 2011:

Jamie McCarthy / Getty Images

And here’s a photo of her — not even close — her wax figure:

Paul Morigi / WireImage / Getty Images

Okay, so the thing about this wax figure is, yes, I can guess who it is because I know Robert, but what makes a good wax statue is not being able to tell it’s wax. You can totally tell it’s a candle, especially since it’s just as shiny as Edward’s vampire shimmer than it really is Dusk film.

5.

Here’s a photo of Jane Lynch:

Fox / FOX Image Collection via Getty Images

And here he is and his wax figure:

Jason Laveris / FilmMagic / Getty Images

This wax figure is based on him Song the character, Sue Sylvester, could easily have been Cheerios’ substitute coach for the days Sue didn’t want to come to work. Extra points for giving the wax figure a classic accessory of Sue Sylvester — a megaphone.

6.

Here’s a photo of One Direction looking handsome at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards:

Kevin Mazur / Getty Images

And here’s their wax figure—not even close—:

Handouts / Getty Images

One Direction have a trillion things that make them beautiful, but sadly, this wax figure is not among them. Sure, it looks like they… from afar, but “is it good” is an important question.👀

7.

Here’s a photo of Laverne Cox wearing an elegant dress:

Andrew Toth / FilmMagic / Getty Images

And here’s a photo of him standing with his elegant and precise wax figure:

San Francisco Chronicle / San Francisco Chronicle via Getty Images

It’s not perfect okay, but apart from the loud lighting, they nailed so many components to this wax figure I have to count it as a win!

8.

Here’s a picture of Taylor Swift rocking at the 2009 Z100 Jingle Ball concert at Madison Square Garden:

Theo Wargo / Getty Images

And here’s a photo of him and her—not even close—a wax figure:

Neilson Barnard / Getty Images

Hair color, hairstyle and lack of red lips are the reasons why this is not a win. The only reason it didn’t get an F is because they nailed the dress. Since then they’ve improved the wax figure, and that’s right, but more on that below!

9.

Here’s another stunning photo of Taylor Swift at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards:

Jeff Kravitz / Getty Images for iHeartMedia

And here’s the new wax figure they made out of it:

Kirsty O’connor – Pa Images / PA Images via Getty Images

For a moment, I really didn’t know if this was real or not LOL. This wax figure shines as bright as the real Taylor. dare!

10.

Here’s a photo of a brightly smiling Oprah and a brighter purple dress:

Charley Gallay / Getty Images

And here’s Oprah’s wax figure—not even close—:

Paul Morigi / WireImage / Getty Images

IDK whether it’s the party hat or the corner, but this Oprah wax figure doesn’t serve what IRL Oprah would serve! They definitely won’t get a car for this…maybe an Uber gift card.

11.

Here’s a photo of Pharrell Williams at the 2014 Grammys:

And here he is and his wax figure:

Cindy Ord / Getty Images

They lost their signature hat, but seeing how well they do it makes me very happy. Clap your hands if you think this wax figure is amazing!

12.

Here’s a stunning image of Ariana Grande in her classic Rapunzel-esqe ponytail:

Kevin Mazur / Getty Images for iHeartMedia

And here’s a photo of — not even close — the wax figure:

Ian West – Pa Images / PA Images via Getty Images

Every wax figure of Ariana Grande has failed significantly (except the 2021 one), and this one is no exception. I promise, I’d have one less problem if this wax figure was a little more accurate.

13.

Here’s a photo of Priyanka Chopra Jonas who looks stunning (as usual):

Michael Loccisano / Getty Images for UNICEF USA

And here’s a picture of her glowing candle figure (with her beside her looking just as beautiful):

Astrid Stawiarz / Getty Images for Madame Tussauds New York / Getty Images

She is beautiful. The wax figure is beautiful. Job well done!

14.

Here’s a picture of Zac Efron rocking his classic High School Musical–age hair:

Charley Gallay / Getty Images

And here’s a photo of her — not even close — her wax figure:

Dan Kitwood / Getty Images

If it wasn’t for the bright red East High School basketball and uniform, then there’s no way I could have said that this was Zac Efron. Bet on it; it will not be in the “on-point” stack.

15.

Here’s a photo of Jason Derulo:

Randy Holmes / Walt Disney Television via Getty Images

And here’s a photo of him doing his iconic pose next to his wax figure:

Rachel Murray / Getty Images

If Jason Derulo needed someone to play his twin brother in a music video (or even TikTok), he could definitely use his wax figure! Mmmm, what are you guys saying? It’s quite precise, right??

16.

Here’s a photo of Justin Bieber in 2012:

Jason Merritt / Getty Images

And here’s a photo of her — not even close — her wax figure:

Barry King / WireImage / Getty Images

Would I be able to tell if it was him if I saw him in person? Mmm, maybe. But does that mean great? Mmm, no. But hey, I’ll give them credit for nailing the iconic 2012 Bieber hairstyle!

17.

Here’s a photo of Sofia Vergara wearing a gorgeous dress and her prettier smile:

Photo by Jeffrey Ufberg / WireImage / Getty Images

And here she is posing together with her stunning wax figure:

Jeffrey Ufberg / WireImage / Getty Images

BTW, the real Sofia is in the middle, just in case you didn’t know.

18.

Here’s a photo of Miley Cyrus circa 2009:

Kristian Dowling / Getty Images

And here’s a photo of — not even close — the wax figure:

Photonews / Getty Images

For some reason, this wax figure of Miley Cyrus kind of scares me, NGL. Kind of get more of a Chucky vibe than a Miley vibe, you know? The pose is absolutely spot on, so I’m not completely mad about this.

19.

Here’s an image of Snoop Dogg rocking the classic Snoop Dogg look:

Gregg Deguire / FilmMagic / Getty Images

And here he is and his wax figure:

Jacob Andrzejczak / Getty Images

This wax figure definitely deserves a B+, which in my book is still spot on!

20.

Here’s a phenomenal portrait of the legend, David Beckham:

Matthew Lewis / Getty Images

And here’s his not-so-phenomenal wax sculpture, not even close:

Str/AFP via Getty Images

Yes, IDK who this should be, but it can’t be David Beckham.

21.

Here’s a picture of Paris Hilton rocking her classic bright blue velor tracksuit:

Kristian Dowling / Getty Images

And here’s a photo of him and his wax figure:

Timothy A. Clary / AFP via Getty Images

His eye color is a bit faded, but other than that, I’d call this a win!

22.

Last but not least, here’s a photo of Joe Jonas at the premiere Camping Stones in 2008:

Scott Gries / Getty Images

And here’s Joe’s wax figure – not even close –:

Jeff Snyder / FilmMagic / Getty Images

If I hadn’t seen this wax figure paired with two other men singing and playing an instrument, I probably wouldn’t have known it was Joe Jonas.

So, what do you think? Are the good really accurate and the bad remote? Or are they better than I thought? Let me know in the comments below!
